The safety committee provisions in 29 CFR Part 1960 apply only to federal agencies, not private employers. Some states require a safety committee or, in some cases, safety meetings, for example Washington (WAC 296-800-130), Oregon (OAR 437-001-0765), Minnesota (Minn. Stat. § 182.676) and Nevada (NRS 618.383, more than 25 employees). In Canada, most provinces require a joint health and safety committee or representative above a set workforce size; check your province or territory.
